One In A Million

I've heard the saying, 'Write what you know' from somewhere or someone, maybe from a movie...I don't know. So what do I know? I feel like I'm one of those people who knows a little bit about a lot of things, but I don't feel like I'm an expert in any area. I do, however, have people tell me all the time that I listen to bands that they have never heard of. I have other people show me new music and then I show it to others and so on. Maybe I do have something to share then...

Today's topic: Ace Enders (and A Million Different People). I like this guy, love his voice, and appreciate his affinity for long band names. I met him back in 2002 when his band, The Early November (TEN), was playing at Alley Katz in Richmond, VA. Now TEN is no more, but Ace had a side project, I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business. They released an album awhile back, but what he's really focusing on now is his (more or less) solo project, Ace Enders and A Million Different People. My favorite song that I've heard so far is Over This. I found an acoustic version on YouTube, just in case my attempt to post the video on this page is unsuccessful. And hey, I'm feeling nice today so I'm gonna save you some time and give you the lyrics too.

Over This by Ace Enders - Let's just say, that I am over this. I am done with it, and moving on. So let's pretend, that it was perfect. And it was worth it, and all is good. But it's hard times, to make it seem alright. Oh please because, we need some saving to help prevent our hearts from breaking. So we can say that all of this was worth it. So let's just say, that I deserved it. I worked and earned it, would that be wrong? We're moving on, never regret it. And please don't expect it 'cause we're on our own. But it's hard times, to make it seem alright. Oh please because, we need some saving to help prevent our hearts from breaking. So we can say that all of this was worth it. We need some saving to help prevent our hearts from breaking. So we can say that all of this was worth it. We need some saving to help prevent our hearts from breaking. So we can say that all of this was worth it.

My Firsts

This is my first time blogging. Why do people blog anyway? Different people do it for different reasons, but I don't even know what my reason is. I don't want to use this as a diary. And I certainly don't think that anything I have to say is so important that it should be out there for everyone to see.

I thought I'd look back on other firsts.

First word: Gato (meaning cat or in Argentine slang, an expensive hooker), but I'm almost positive that I meant it as cat.

First time I got in trouble: I thought those little Fisher Price people wanted to see inside my Dad's brand new VCR (umm in 1984 this was a big deal) and he saw about 15 of them staring back at him when he went to go play a video. Oops.

First best friend: Nicole. I still keep in touch with her!

First boyfriend: Sean Kyle in the 2nd grade, he used to show off on his skateboard for me.

First injury: A fractured wrist. My sister fell while roller-skating and brought me down with her. Thanks a lot, Cris.

First kiss: The result of a game of Truth or Dare in the 6th grade.

First WOW kiss: Trey...something. Ok, the kiss was memorable and apparently the last name was not.

First job: Hostess with the mostest.

Ummm, I'm at a loss for topics now. I guess I would ask for suggestions, but then who would I be asking? I need to recruit readers!
